Flint and Tinder looks east for its latest denim release, introducing the Japanese Selvedge Reserve
as part of its small batch Japan Reserve Capsule. Every pair is made in
Japan from start to finish, combining American workwear roots with
traditional Japanese craftsmanship and a focus on timeless construction.
The denim
itself is woven on original Toyoda shuttle looms, the vintage machines
that predate modern high speed production. This slower weaving process
produces a 14 ounce selvedge fabric with a slubby, irregular texture
that gives the jeans character from day one. The subtle imperfections
and varied grain allow the indigo to fade uniquely over time, meaning
each pair develops its own pattern of wear rather than following a
uniform look.
Cut in a vintage straight fit, the silhouette stays
classic and easy to wear, offering room to move without feeling
oversized. A garment wash softens the fabric for immediate comfort,
reducing the typical break in period associated with raw denim. Details
like durable cotton herringbone pocketing and custom YKK hardware
reinforce the sense that these jeans are built for long term use rather
than seasonal trends.
Finished with exclusive Japanese Limited
Reserve labels, the Flint and Tinder Japanese Selvedge Reserve blends
heritage inspiration with careful production. It is a piece designed to
age well, embracing the idea that true character comes from wear, time
and the marks of daily life rather than perfection.
